Dear Kendall Elementary Families,

Welcome to a new school year! We are excited to open our doors and begin another wonderful year of learning, growth, and connection at Kendall Elementary.

At Kendall, we believe every child deserves to feel safe, supported, challenged, and valued. Our dedicated teachers and staff have been working hard to prepare engaging learning experiences and welcoming classrooms where all students can thrive. We look forward to celebrating their achievements, encouraging their curiosity, and helping them grow academically and personally throughout the year.

A successful school year is built through a strong partnership between school and home. We encourage families to stay connected, communicate regularly with teachers, attend school events, and support consistent, on-time attendance. Your involvement makes a meaningful difference in your child’s success and strengthens our entire Kendall community.

Please read for important information regarding arrival and dismissal procedures, campus events, volunteer opportunities, and other school updates. We are grateful for your trust and partnership as we work together to make the 2026–2027 school year an exceptional one.

The first day of school is Tuesday, August 11th. Doors open at 7:05 and students begin their day at 7:35. K-2 students are dropped off in the cafeteria, where they may eat breakfast or wait until their homeroom teacher escorts them to class. All 3-5 students are dropped off in the gym, where they wait until their homeroom teacher escorts them to class. If a 3-5th grade student needs to eat breakfast, they are welcome to make their way to the cafeteria first before going to the gym. All PK students are dropped off at our front doors and are assisted to their classroom upon arrival.

 

 

No pre check or badges are needed for these parents for the first day of school. We will have school personnel and our School Resource Officer on hand to monitor the safety of this event. We ask that if you plan to walk your PK or Kindergarten child to class, please do not arrive prior to 7:35. Once you arrive, you may wait in our cafeteria until permitted into the hallways at 8:00 am.

 

 

After the first day of school, no parents will be permitted to walk their students to class. K-2 students will enter through the cafeteria and 3-5 students will enter through the gym beginning at 7:05 am. PK students enter through our front doors and are assisted to their classroom upon arrival. Parents have several options for arrival time.

 

 

Tardies are issued after the 7:35 bell. If you arrive late with your child, you will need to park and walk them into the front office to check in.

 

Please refrain from dropping your student off before 7:05 am. There will not be staff present to monitor students before this time and safety is our top priority. Students are not permitted to wait by our front doors before staff is on duty.

Dismissal takes place at 3:00 pm. Students will be escorted out to their location beginning around 2:55 pm. Staff members are on duty in each location to ensure safety and organization of dismissal. Parents have several options for dismissal.

 

 

Dismissal procedures tend to take longer at the beginning of the year as students and staff are learning the procedures with safety in mind. Once we establish a routine, this process moves much faster. Please partner with us by being patient and understanding throughout the first few weeks.

To help our students settle into the school year, we will not have lunch visitors during the first week of school. This allows us to focus on teaching and reinforcing cafeteria routines, expectations, and positive behaviors. Lunch visits will begin on Monday, August 17th. We appreciate your support in helping our students start the year with success.

We are so excited to have our Kendall Knights back at school next week! Please remember the importance of daily attendance and how it ties to your student's success. However, we understand that illness and emergencies happen, so if your child does need to be absent from school we ask that you email Mallory.McIvor@boerneisd.net so that she can make notes of this attendance and upload any supporting documents to your student's attendance file. We want to ensure that all excused absences are marked accordingly with appropriate documentation. Please be aware that Skyward will send you an automated alert when your child does not get marked present at school, even if you have already reached out to our attendance secretary. 

Please help us prevent truancy cases and chronic absenteeism, so that we can serve your student to the best of our ability. It is Texas law that students who fail to attend school without an excuse for 10 or more days within a six-month period or 3 or more days within a four-week period constitutes truancy. Parents or guardians can be charged if they fail to ensure their child attends school as required by law. 

If you have an incoming Kindergarten student, please see the following flyer with more details on our Kindergarten Round Table event. Our kindergarten dual languge students will participate in all of these activities throughout the first week of school as well. The biggest difference for dual language students is that they will already be assigned a homeroom teacher.

 

Boerne ISD's Child Nutrition department is excited to welcome students and staff members for the new school year. The department's website provides information on everything you need to know when it comes to your student's school meals and nutrition. Here are a few of the most requested areas.

 

 

 

 

Students are expected to have funds available for the purchase of their meals. However, students who do not have funds in their accounts will be allowed to charge up to $50. Once a student's account falls to a negative balance, an email notification letter will be sent to the household informing them of the negative balance. Students are not allowed to charge any extra items including second portions, a la carte snacks and ice cream if funds are not available.

 

 

The Boerne ISD Child Nutrition department introduced a new online system for managing student lunch accounts and making payments last year. The new platform, PaySchools, offers a convenient and user-friendly experience for families.

Through the family portal, parents and guardians can easily stay informed and in control of their child's meal account.
