BISD: Update to School Menu Platform

We are excited to share an upcoming change to the way you access our school menus online and through a mobile app.

SFE will be transitioning from Nutrislice to LINQ Solutions for our online menu and mobile app services.

What This Means for You?
This change will take effect beginning with September menus. On August 31, your school's menus will be available through LINQ's menu platform.

Here is the new menu link for all BISD Schools.https://www.schoolnutritionandfitness.com/index.php?sid=1786474450273

Add the App!
This can be added as well so parents can stay up to date with menu offerings and announcements with the Web Menus mobile app. Web Menus for School Nutrition is available for both Apple and Android users via the App or Play Stores respectively

Dismissal Reminders

Dismissal Procedures
Dismissal takes place at 3:00 pm. Students will be escorted out to their location beginning around 2:55 pm. Staff members are on duty in each location to ensure safety and organization of dismissal. Parents have several options for dismissal.

Early Check-Out – 2:30 is the cut off for early check-out unless it is for a documented reason (doctor appt, etc.).

  • Car Loop- Parents will pull into the car loop in a double line and our staff will assist you by calling your students name on a walkie talkie. They will get this information from your car tag that needs to be displayed on your dashboard. Therefore, it is imperative that you pick up a car tag at Meet the Teacher or let your homeroom teacher know if you are in need of additional tags. Our officer and staff will be on duty to help with the flow of the car loop. Students will wait with their grade level until their hear their name called on the walkie talkie. They will be sent to a colored pole to wait on you and loaded into your car by a staff member.
  • Parent Walk Up- Parents may park and walk up to pick up their student near the cafeteria doors. Parents may not walk up on the bus loop side. To ensure safety of all students, you must have a parent pick up tag with you in order for our staff to release your student to you. Therefore, it is imperative that you pick up a Parent Walk Up tag ar Meet the Teacher or let your homeroom teacher know if you are in need of additional tags for this process.
  • Bus- Your student may ride the bus home once you have contacted transportation and determined their bus route. Students will be loaded on to the bus at 3:00 and depart campus around 3:05. Each route has an estimated time of arrival to your bus stop that can be found at https://www.infofinderi.com/ifi/?cid=BI05063838479. In the past, we have had multiple rounds of bus routes. If students are not assigned the first route, they wait in our gym until their bus arrives. However, we believe that we will only have one round of bus routes this school year, meaning many of our students will be able to depart shortly after the bell rings. This is subject to change as BISD transportation makes final changes,
  • After School Care- Students may also attend YMCA or daycare after school concludes. Parents will need to register their child with the organization of their choice for this service. YMCA is hosted on KES campus and daycares pick up students in the bus loop and transport them back to their campus.
  • Clubs- After the year gets going, students will have opportunities to join Kendall clubs that typically run from 3:00-3:45. Please be on the lookout for these opportunities!

Dismissal procedures tend to take longer at the beginning of the year as students and staff are learning the procedures with safety in mind. Once we establish a routine, this process moves much faster. Please partner with us by being patient and understanding throughout the first few weeks.

Attendance and Tardies

Please remember the importance of daily attendance and how it ties to your student's success. However, we understand that illness and emergencies happen, so if your child does need to be absent from school we ask that you email Mallory.McIvor@boerneisd.net so that she can make notes of this attendance and upload any supporting documents to your student's attendance file. We want to ensure that all excused absences are marked accordingly with appropriate documentation. Please be aware that Skyward will send you an automated alert when your child does not get marked present at school, even if you have already reached out to our attendance secretary.

Please help us prevent truancy cases and chronic absenteeism, so that we can serve your student to the best of our ability. It is Texas law that students who fail to attend school without an excuse for 10 or more days within a six-month period or 3 or more days within a four-week period constitutes truancy. Parents or guardians can be charged if they fail to ensure their child attends school as required by law.

Counselors Corner Banner
Happy Friday,

When we are responsible, we follow through on promises and commitments, build trust with others, and do the right thing, even when no one is watching.  This week, talk to your student about responsible behavior at school– in their class, on the playground, and in the cafeteria.  Empower your student to be a responsible leader at KES!

Keep an eye on the “Counselor’s Corner” for information on class lessons, special weeks, and other updates!

Child Nutrition

fruit
Boerne ISD's Child Nutrition department is excited to welcome students and staff members for the new school year. The department's website provides information on everything you need to know when it comes to your student's school meals and nutrition. Here are a few of the most requested areas.

  • Free & Reduced Meals and Federal Guidelines - Apply using PaySchools Portal or download a printable application in English or Spanish.
  • Menus
  • Meal Pricing
  • Breakfast: $2.30 (paid) free and reduced (no cost) for students.
  • Lunch: Elementary - $3.40 (paid) $0.40 (reduced), middle and high schools - $3.65 (paid) $0.40 (reduced)
  • As of September 1, 2025, students receiving reduced lunch will receive the benefits of free breakfast and lunch for two years. Students must qualify annually.

Meal Charges

Students are expected to have funds available for the purchase of their meals. However, students who do not have funds in their accounts will be allowed to charge up to $50. Once a student's account falls to a negative balance, an email notification letter will be sent to the household informing them of the negative balance. Students are not allowed to charge any extra items including second portions, a la carte snacks and ice cream if funds are not available.

Student Code of Conduct

  • The Student Code of Conduct for Boerne ISD can be found at the following link in English and in Spanish.

Payschools Parent Portal

The Boerne ISD Child Nutrition department introduced a new online system for managing student lunch accounts and making payments last year. The new platform, PaySchools, offers a convenient and user-friendly experience for families.

Through the family portal, parents and guardians can easily stay informed and in control of their child's meal account.

Key Features
  • Secure online payments — Add funds to your child’s account anytime, from anywhere. Convenience fees apply.
  • Real-time balance updates — Monitor account balances and receive low-balance alerts.
  • Purchase history and restrictions — View what your child is buying and set spending limits.
  • Sibling account transfers — Easily transfer funds between children.
  • Free and Reduced-Price Meal Applications — Apply directly through the portal.

To get started, take a look at these instructions for setting up an account and using the system’s features.

For further questions, please call the Child Nutrition Department at 830-357-2165 or email us at Marissa Acosta (Marissa.acosta@boerneisd.net) or Vlada Buck (vlada.buck@boerneisd.net.)
