News from the Admin Team

Happy Thursday, Kendall Families!

We have a BIG week ahead at Kendall! Grandparents Parade & Lunch TOMORROW!

We are so excited to celebrate Grandparents Day with our Kendall Knights! If your grandparent did not pre-check, please allow plenty of extra time for arrival as we expect a line of grandparents checking in. Grandparents who pre-checked can go straight to the gym to pick up their visitor badge. We can’t wait to see all of the decorated cars!

Picture Day is Tuesday, September 15th. Bring those smiles!

APEX Fundraiser Kickoff is Tuesday!

Our APEX fundraiser kicks off with a Pep Rally during the school day! The fundraiser will run through September 25, ending with a fun-filled Fun Run! Families are welcome to come cheer on their students, so please be sure to pre-check using the link provided in the newsletter if you’d like to join us. PTO is also looking for volunteers to help keep track of student laps!

Book to Movie Night is next Thursday, September 17 at 5:00 PM

Join us in the cafeteria for our first Book to Movie Night! Mrs. Andrzejewski will read Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs before we watch the movie together. This is a FREE event for all Kendall families! Bring chairs, blankets, and snacks, and come enjoy a fun night together!

No School Friday
Friday is a teacher conference day, so there will be no school for students.

We have so much fun ahead, and we can’t wait to see our Kendall families at these special events! Go Knights!

Parent Reminders

A Reminder About Toys at School
We are asking for your partnership in keeping toys at home. This includes toys of all kinds, including Squishies and other small sensory toys. Please take a moment to check your child’s backpack and help ensure these items stay at home. Keeping toys out of the school setting helps students stay focused on instruction and also ensures that special items are kept safe at home and do not become lost, misplaced, or damaged at school.

Fidgets and Calm-Down Tools
We also want to reassure families that students who have fidgets, sensory tools, or calm-down tools specifically included as part of their IEP or 504 plan will continue to have access to those supports at school. These tools are provided to support individual student needs and are different from toys brought from home. If your child’s IEP or 504 plan includes access to a specific tool or support, that accommodation will continue to be honored.

Thank you for partnering with us to create a safe, focused learning environment where every student can do their best!

Attendance and Tardies

Please remember the importance of daily attendance and how it ties to your student's success. However, we understand that illness and emergencies happen, so if your child does need to be absent from school we ask that you email Mallory.McIvor@boerneisd.net so that she can make notes of this attendance and upload any supporting documents to your student's attendance file. We want to ensure that all excused absences are marked accordingly with appropriate documentation. Please be aware that Skyward will send you an automated alert when your child does not get marked present at school, even if you have already reached out to our attendance secretary.

Please help us prevent truancy cases and chronic absenteeism, so that we can serve your student to the best of our ability. It is Texas law that students who fail to attend school without an excuse for 10 or more days within a six-month period or 3 or more days within a four-week period constitutes truancy. Parents or guardians can be charged if they fail to ensure their child attends school as required by law.

Counselors Corner Banner
Hello, Kendall Friends-

I hope that you had a relaxing and fun weekend with your family!  We were excited to welcome back all of our Kendall Knights on Tuesday.

This week, Officer Chavez and I spoke with Fourth and Fifth graders about what it means to be a responsible student and how we can show responsibility with our behaviors at school and in how we take care of school property. Take a few minutes this week to brainstorm how to show responsibility at home, as a sibling, as a teammate, etc.

Keep an eye on the “Counselor’s Corner” for information on class lessons, special weeks, and other updates!

Child Nutrition

fruit
Boerne ISD's Child Nutrition department is excited to welcome students and staff members for the new school year. The department's website provides information on everything you need to know when it comes to your student's school meals and nutrition. Here are a few of the most requested areas.

  • Free & Reduced Meals and Federal Guidelines - Apply using PaySchools Portal or download a printable application in English or Spanish.
  • Menus
  • Meal Pricing
  • Breakfast: $2.30 (paid) free and reduced (no cost) for students.
  • Lunch: Elementary - $3.40 (paid) $0.40 (reduced), middle and high schools - $3.65 (paid) $0.40 (reduced)
  • As of September 1, 2025, students receiving reduced lunch will receive the benefits of free breakfast and lunch for two years. Students must qualify annually.

Meal Charges

Students are expected to have funds available for the purchase of their meals. However, students who do not have funds in their accounts will be allowed to charge up to $50. Once a student's account falls to a negative balance, an email notification letter will be sent to the household informing them of the negative balance. Students are not allowed to charge any extra items including second portions, a la carte snacks and ice cream if funds are not available.

Student Code of Conduct

  • The Student Code of Conduct for Boerne ISD can be found at the following link in English and in Spanish.

Payschools Parent Portal

The Boerne ISD Child Nutrition department introduced a new online system for managing student lunch accounts and making payments last year. The new platform, PaySchools, offers a convenient and user-friendly experience for families.

Through the family portal, parents and guardians can easily stay informed and in control of their child's meal account.

Key Features
  • Secure online payments — Add funds to your child’s account anytime, from anywhere. Convenience fees apply.
  • Real-time balance updates — Monitor account balances and receive low-balance alerts.
  • Purchase history and restrictions — View what your child is buying and set spending limits.
  • Sibling account transfers — Easily transfer funds between children.
  • Free and Reduced-Price Meal Applications — Apply directly through the portal.

To get started, take a look at these instructions for setting up an account and using the system’s features.

For further questions, please call the Child Nutrition Department at 830-357-2165 or email us at Marissa Acosta (Marissa.acosta@boerneisd.net) or Vlada Buck (vlada.buck@boerneisd.net.)

At Kendall Elementary, connection and belonging are important values. With that in mind, we hope all students are able to participate in our FUN-draisers. If you would like to sponsor a student to help them have equal access, it would be greatly appreciated. Your sponsorship pays for one (1) of our Chickfila, Cane's, or Las Palapas lunch fundraisers for a student this school year.
