Knight Family,

Our APEX fundraiser has kicked off, and we need your support in making it successful.  It only takes a few minutes to log in and send the information to family and friends so that they can donate. This is a new process for us all so we want to make it as successful as possible to benefit your students.  Please make sure that you get your students registered this week.  Students are really enjoying the leadership lessons and earning daily prizes.

Thank you to all of our families who participated in our first Family Movie Night.  It was a great success, and we were so excited about the turnout.  We are planning our next one and hope that even more families will join us.

Friday was a great day of parent conferences, and we appreciate you all taking the time to come in and learn about your child’s progress.  The school- family connection is an integral part of student success and we appreciate your support in that.  We are always here anytime you want to come in and visit about your child.

Apex Fun Run will have two courses going at a time and kids will have bracelets to mark for each lap. Students will walk/run for 50 minutes. Each grade will wear their PTO issued grade shirt on the day of the fundraiser. Teachers will have shirts 2 days prior to the run.

We would love for parents to come and cheer your students on! This day is meant to be a fun and exciting day!

We are asking for your partnership in keeping toys at home. This includes toys of all kinds, including Squishies and other small sensory toys. Please take a moment to check your child’s backpack and help ensure these items stay at home. Keeping toys out of the school setting helps students stay focused on instruction and also ensures that special items are kept safe at home and do not become lost, misplaced, or damaged at school.

We also want to reassure families that students who have fidgets, sensory tools, or calm-down tools specifically included as part of their IEP or 504 plan will continue to have access to those supports at school. These tools are provided to support individual student needs and are different from toys brought from home. If your child’s IEP or 504 plan includes access to a specific tool or support, that accommodation will continue to be honored.

Last week, Champion Chargers helped welcome our students to school! We love seeing these high school students be role models to our Kendall Knights! 

Our Life Skills class had a great time putting their real-world skills into practice with a lunch outing to Infernos Pizzeria! From ordering their meals to enjoying lunch together, it was a fun opportunity to build independence, confidence, and community. Were so proud of our Knights! 

Please check our lost and found located in our front foyer for items your child might have left at school. At the end of each 9 weeks, we will be donating any items that are not claimed.

Please remember the importance of daily attendance and how it ties to your student's success. However, we understand that illness and emergencies happen, so if your child does need to be absent from school we ask that you email Mallory.McIvor@boerneisd.net so that she can make notes of this attendance and upload any supporting documents to your student's attendance file. We want to ensure that all excused absences are marked accordingly with appropriate documentation. Please be aware that Skyward will send you an automated alert when your child does not get marked present at school, even if you have already reached out to our attendance secretary. 

Please help us prevent truancy cases and chronic absenteeism, so that we can serve your student to the best of our ability. It is Texas law that students who fail to attend school without an excuse for 10 or more days within a six-month period or 3 or more days within a four-week period constitutes truancy. Parents or guardians can be charged if they fail to ensure their child attends school as required by law. 

Hi, Kendall Families! 

This has been a busy week at Kendall with our APEX pep rally and lots of leadership skills being practiced! 

Part of being a responsible leader is being aware of the impact our words and behaviors have on others. Please take a moment to talk to your students about the importance of our words and what role they can play in stopping rumors or gossip.  This week in 5th grade, we talked about the KNIGHT Check: 

Next week, we will begin our individual counseling and small groups!

At Kendall Elementary, connection and belonging are important values. With that in mind, we hope all students are able to participate in our FUN-draisers. If you would like to sponsor a student to help them have equal access, it would be greatly appreciated. Your sponsorship pays for one (1) of our Chickfila, Cane's, or Las Palapas lunch fundraisers for a student this school year.

This year, we’re excited to invite our neighborhoods to

participate in our first-ever centralized National Night

Out Block Party! The goal is to bring our community

together for an evening of fun, fellowship, and building

relationships with our neighbors and first responders.
