News from the Admin Team

Happy Friday, Kendall Families!

We have so much to look forward to next week! Our 5th graders visited BOA this week and had a blast. We’re excited to share pictures of their adventures with you soon!

As we head into another exciting week, we want to thank all of our families for your continued support and partnership. A quick reminder that learning begins promptly at 7:35 AM, so please make sure students arrive on time and are in their classrooms, ready to learn. Starting the day together helps set our students up for success!

Next week is also Red Ribbon Week, and we’ll celebrate with a fun dress-up theme each day. Be sure to check out the flyer for the daily themes and join in the fun!

We’re especially excited for Trunk or Treat on Tuesday! Our teachers and staff, along with local organizations and businesses, will be participating. There will also be plenty of activities to enjoy, including face painting, games, and food trucks. We can’t wait to see our Kendall community come together for a fun evening!

Then, on Friday at 8:00 AM, join us in the bus loop for our annual Book Character Parade! Come watch our students bring their favorite book characters to life. The PTO will also have a coffee truck on-site where you can purchase your morning brew while enjoying one of the cutest events of the year!

Thank you for being such an important part of our Kendall Knights family. We hope you have a wonderful weekend, and we can’t wait to see all the fun next week brings!

Arriving to School on Time: Tardies

We have seen a significant increase in tardies, rising from an average of 22 per day in September to 46 per day in October. The tardy bell rings at 7:35 a.m., and instruction begins immediately.

Please help your child arrive on time each day so they don't miss valuable learning opportunities. Even a few minutes of missed instruction can impact student learning and classroom routines. We appreciate your partnership in ensuring students arrive on time and ready to learn each day.

Kendall Elementary Abacus Bee Medal Winner Wyatt Hansen

Wyatt Hansen won 2nd place in his division on Friday, October 16th at the Regional Abacus Bee held in San Antonio!

This competition is sponsored by the American Printing House for the Blind. It is designed to encourage mathematical skills for students who are blind or have low vision while having fun. The two-part mathematics contest is for school-aged children. Students who compete may use an abacus, mental math, finger math, counting cubes, or other manipulatives to complete the math problems. Wyatt used mental math. The competition is divided into 1 noncompetitive division and 5 competitive divisions. His division consisted of 3 30-minute rounds of completing multi-step addition and subtraction problems and 1 round of math dictation. It was a full day of math!

We are so proud of you Wyatt!

Character Education
Our 2nd nine-week Character Education trait is "Caring".  Caring can be defined as "showing kindness and concern for others."

Here are some ways we can model caring behavior at home:

  • Let your child see you helping others, using kind words, listening, and showing concern when someone is having a difficult time.
  • Help your child notice how others might be feeling. Ask questions like, "How do you think they felt?" and "What could we do to help?"
  • Encourage your child to practice caring in everyday actions, such as helping a sibling, making a card for someone who is sick, taking care of a pet, checking on a friend, or helping a family member.

Red Ribbon Week
Red Ribbon Week will be October 26-30, 2026, and we will be focusing on "Healthy Choices."  Our dress up days are listed below!

Special Lunch Sponsorship for Blessings

At Kendall Elementary, connection and belonging are important values. With that in mind, we hope all students are able to participate in our FUN-draisers. If you would like to sponsor a student to help them have equal access, it would be greatly appreciated. Your sponsorship pays for one (1) of our Chickfila, Cane's, or Las Palapas lunch fundraisers for a student this school year.
